"Ask Me Another" Returns

Dust off the Britannica, and brush up on those Pop-Up Video reruns. When all else fails, let the tunes clue you in. You’ll need it because Ask Me Another, a rambunctious new show from NPR that challenges contestants with an hour of puzzles, word games and trivia is back. AMA is hosted by comedian Ophira Eisenberg and airs Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. on 90.9 and 88.9 FM.

Every month over 170 million Americans use public media – through 368 public television stations, 934 public radio stations,  hundreds of online services, education services, and in-person events and activities. Every month over half of all Americans use public media.

MissionFest: Find Your Way To Give

Two years ago, Cheryl Mothes visited Haiti to help survivors of that Caribbean nation’s devastating earthquake.

Mothes, a financial planner at Edward Jones in Jackson, says the trip changed her life and was one of the most important things she had ever done.

She is now one of the organizers of MissionFest, a local event being held at the Osage Center on Saturday, October 27, 2012, that will allow participants to learn more about local and international mission opportunities that are available. 

Cape Girardeau County Celebrates Bicentennial

Cape Girardeau County recognized its bicentennial with a special presentation after Thursday’s County Commission meeting.

The original Cape Girardeau County was far larger than the one we know today.

Cape Girardeau County was born on October 1, 1812.

It was one of the first five counties in Missouri. The others were Ste. Genevieve, St. Louis, St. Charles, and New Madrid.

Cardinals Lose, Giants Even Series 3-3

Pitcher Ryan Vogelsong dominated the St. Louis Cardinals through 7 innings Sunday night as the San Francisco Giants beat the Cards 6 to 1.

The Giants win forces a decisive Game 7 in the National League Championship Series Monday night in San Francisco. The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the World Series against the Detroit Tigers.

Vogelsong was masterful as a he struck out a career-high 9 batters and allowed only one run.
