On select Thursdays at 7 p.m. from February through May, the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will host an after-hours discussion series that caters to taboo topics and issues within the arts. Established in the fall of 2015, Red Light Night has succeeded in providing a platform to allow individuals within the Southeast Missouri region to share their personal experiences and points of view, and has grown to be one of the Arts Council’s most attended events. The topic for spring 2018 is “Materiality within the Arts,”, and will feature Southeast Missouri State University faculty and alumni with a Q&A session following. February’s speaker is Dr. Jennifer Bengtson, Assistant Professor of Anthropology. The first Red Light Night will take place at 7pm on Thursday, Feb 15 at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in downtown Cape Girardeau.
