Barney Hartline graduated from Cape Central High School in 1965 and from Southeast Missouri State University in 1969 with a degree in chemistry. In the 1960s, folk music was played on top-40 radio. Folk music sing-a-longs at a local pizza parlor were very popular with Southeast students in those days.
“Those days got me hooked on contemporary folk music,” recalls Hartline. Later in his life he became fascinated with the roots of the music that was so popular back in his college days. From traditional to contemporary folk music that’s the model for Your Folk Connection. Hartline quips, “We always say that when we say that we are playing a big hit tune from the sixties you always have to ask, ‘What Century?’”
