Nate Saverino

Nate Saverino serves as the Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs.

Saverino, who earned both a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management (2008) and a Master of Arts in Higher Education (2010) from Southeast, is responsible for all athletic marketing, promotions and ticket sale strategies. He oversees the design and production of Southeast’s printed materials, such as posters, schedule cards and camp brochures. His other duties include securing corporate sponsorships, creating content for the Houck Stadium video scoreboard, producing public address scripts for home events, assisting the Redhawks Club in event planning and promoting, assisting with the Redhawks’ social media outreach efforts and overseeing the university’s athletic trademark licensing program. He also supervises Southeast’s sports marketing student internship program.

Prior to returning to his alma mater, Saverino worked as an Athletics Marketing Assistant at the University of Tulsa. Before that, he spent two years as Southeast’s Marketing Graduate Assistant.

During his undergrad at Southeast, Saverino also served a term as a communications intern for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. He also worked as a student assistant in Southeast’s sports information office.

Saverino resides in Cape Girardeau with his wife, Dana.

Southeast Dept. of Athletics

The Redhawks Football and Men’s Basketball will both be playing for a special cause tomorrow, November 4, to raise money and awareness for charity.

At Houck Field, the Southeast Football team is hosting its third annual Pink Up Game, in partnership with Saint Francis Healthcare System, to raise awareness for breast cancer and other forms of cancer. The Redhawks will be wearing their alternate pink and black jerseys, customized with the name of someone affected by cancer on the back.

Southeast Missouri sophomore Denzel Mahoney earned Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, the league announced Tuesday during its media day at the Double Tree Hotel in Evansville.

Mahoney had a mammoth rookie season a year ago, collecting Second-Team All-OVC honors, selection to the All-Newcomer Team, and the 2016-17 OVC Freshman of the Year award. Mahoney was also named OVC Freshman of the Week a league-high five times.

Southeast Athletics

A pair of Redhawk Football student-athletes have earned recognition from the Ohio Valley Conference in consecutive games. Junior running back Marquis Terry was named adidas® OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week, and this week redshirt-freshman punter Jake Reynolds earned adidas® OVC Specialist of the Week honors.

Southeast Athletics

The United Soccer Coaches announced its annual Team Academic Awards last week. Southeast Missouri women's soccer claimed its eighth-straight annual award for the 2016-17 academic year. 

The Redhawks put together a 3.64 team GPA for last academic year. SEMO's team GPA tied for 17th-best in the country. This United Soccer Coaches recognition follows the Redhawks earning the OVC Team Academic Award in August. Soccer posted 16 members to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll and had three OVC Medal of Honor recipients.

Southeast Missouri forward Milos Vranes is back in Cape Girardeau after an unforgettable experience this past summer.

Vranes, a senior at Southeast, proudly represented his country as a member of the Serbian National Basketball Team in the 2017 World University Games.

A native of Belgrade, Vranes first tried out for his native team at a camp in Denver, Colorado back in May. He made the final cut of 12 players, who later competed at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan from Aug. 20-29.
