Breathe Deep: More "Fresh Air" Coming To KRCU

NPR

KRCU will begin airing Fresh Air with Terry Gross on September 29th. Fresh Air with Terry Gross is NPR’s Peabody Award-winning weekday magazine of contemporary arts and issues. It will be heard daily at 3:00 p.m. on 90.9fm in Cape Girardeau, 88.9fm in Ste. Genevieve, and online at krcu.org.  As a result of this change, KRCU will no longer air The World.

Fresh Air offers some of the most intelligent interviews, reviews, and commentary heard on radio. The hour-long, daily radio program is a cornerstone of NPR’s news and talk programming. It features interviews with prominent cultural and entertainment figures, as well as distinguished experts on current events.

“After the successful launch of Fresh Air Weekend in March of 2014 we knew that KRCU listeners would like to hear the daily program,” says Dan Woods, General Manager of KRCU. “Plus through audience surveys and hearing comments during our membership drives we know that Fresh Air will be well-received.”

We're very excited to be bringing this program to you. It will truly add new sounds to our airwaves every day. Posted below is a recent interview Gross did with John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats. He discusses his music and his latest novel, Wolf in White Van.

Other changes to KRCU’s schedule on September 29th include a second broadcast of the wildly popular NPR quiz show Ask Me Another Mondays at 7:00 p.m., and a broadcast of NPR’s storytelling darling Snap Judgment Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. These shows, alongside such powerhouses as The Ted Radio HourRadiolab, and This American Life make up what KRCU will call the “Awesome Hour,” a guarantee of amazing public radio programs weekdays at 7:00 p.m.

Additionally, Car Talk will be getting a second broadcast Sundays at 5:00 p.m. and The Score will move to Sundays at 6:00 p.m. As a result of the Car Talk addition to Sunday evening, KRCU will no longer air Going Public or The Business.
