"Carmina Burana" to be performed at River Campus

Southeast Missouri State University

This week we check in with two one-man shows and a literal symphony of sound.

This week at the River Campus is Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus LIVE—a one man show based on the pop psychology best seller about the differences between the genders and how they influence our relationships. The hilarious performance is a fusion between theatre and stand up and should give audiences plenty of laughs and food for thought. Plus, if you head over to our website now, you can get half price tickets!

If you’re looking for something a little more musical in your one man show, this weekend brings in guest artist Silvan Negrutiu, an internationally acclaimed pianist who has performed concerts around the world, from the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. to Ireland's National Concert Hall, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. And, you can see him at the River Campus as part of our $10 entertainment.

Of course, if you are looking for something larger in scale, the last installment of the symphony series should be just the ticket. The Southeast Missouri Symphony, the Southeast University Choir and Choral Union will be joining together for Carmina Burana, one of the most popular pieces of the classical music repertoire. If you grew up in the seventies, you might recognize it from Old Spice commercials. If you’re younger, you’ll be reminded of The X Factor. Either way it’s probably the most frequently performed choral work of the 21st century, and you’ll have your chance to listen next Tuesday.

Visit RiverCampus.org for more details and tickets, and I hope to see you soon at the Box Office!
