Southeast Missouri senior middle blocker Nzingha Clarke and senior outside hitter Krissa Gearring both earned First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, the league announced at the 2017 OVC Volleyball Championship Banquet at Fortera Stadium Wednesday night.
Clarke, an O'Fallon, Illinois native, picked up her fourth end-of-year conference honors as a Redhawk on Wednesday. She was selected to the all-newcomer team in 2014 and now has earned All-OVC accolades in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Clarke led the OVC in hitting percentage during conference play, and she also ranks second in the league in total blocks and blocks per set. Clarke was also second on the team in kills.
A Bolingbrook, Illinois native, Gearring earned her second-straight First-Team All-OVC selection on Wednesday.
Gearring has had an outstanding career as a Redhawk, earning her way into the exclusive 1,000-kill and 1,000-dig club that so few players attain. This season, Gearring led the Redhawks offensively in kills, and she was also second on the team in digs.
The eighth-seeded Redhawks faced No. 1 Austin Peay last night at 7 p.m. in the first round of the OVC Championship. As of recording time, the result is unknown, but complete coverage of the SEMO Volleyball team at the OVC Championship can be found online at GoSoutheast.com
This weekend, the Redhawks Football team will close out its season at home. Southeast will host Murray State tomorrow at 1 p.m. for Senior Night sponsored by Chateau Girardeau. The Redhawk seniors playing their final Southeast football game will be honored before kickoff.
