Cozy Spots in Cape Girardeau

Visit Cape

Hear the most famous symphony ever written at the River Campus on Tuesday, March 6 27 at 7:30 p.m., when Beethoven’s Fifth will be performed

Galleries, shops and restaurants stay open late to let you explore the newest from Cape Girardeau’s art scene at First Friday with the Arts, this Friday, March 2 from 5-9 p.m.

Hygge is the Danish quality of “coziness and comfortable conviviality," and you can find your hygge (hue-gah) (yes, I definitely had to look up how to pronounce it!) at one of these exceptionally cozy spots in Cape Girardeau as the calendar inches toward spring. Grab a coffee, hot tea or hot chocolate in one of Cape Girardeau’s coffee shops.

A cafe in the Marquette tower has space for you to sink into a cushy chair in the fabulous 1920’s lobby with character galore. Draw up a chair and settle in with a pair of provided binoculars and watch the birds and wildlife right outside the floor to ceiling windows at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. The nature center has the uncanny ability to bring the outdoors inside, perfect for a blustery day when it's too cold to be out!

Cozying up with a good book is the pinnacle of all things hygge, and the Cape Public Library has comfortable chairs you can sink right in to scattered throughout their modern library space that just beg to be sat in. Lots of windows and reading spaces tucked behind bookshelves are waiting for you to grab a book and put your feet up.
