The set of "Gone Girl" back in Fall 2013.

A “Gone Girl” Scavenger Hunt will take place in Downtown Cape Girardeau between September 25th and 27th.

Paula Haas, owner of Somewhere in Time Antiques, helped organize the event that is designed to bring customers into the downtown district and take advantage of the anticipation for the upcoming feature film.

Everyone willing to participate is invited to come to Cup'n'Cork's new location on Spanish Street on September 25th to answer a "call for volunteers" that will last from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m for the fictional search party. Participants will receive a packet containing clues as well as a card to be stamped.

"Then they will have all day Friday and all day Saturday to match the clue with the merchant, and if they are correct we will stamp it, and then it ends Saturday at 5 o'clock," Haas said.

After the "Hunt for Amy" has been completed, a “Press Conference” will be hosted by Holly Brantley, news anchor of KFVS12 News, on Saturday Sept. 27th between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., in the upper deck of Dockside at 4 N. Spanish Street.

Completed tickets will then go in to be drawn for the prizes. There will be door prizes given by local merchants, hors d’oeuvres, beverages and the chance to win a grand prize that includes two tickets to see the movie, a one-night stay at Candlewood suites and $100 gift certificate for Port Cape’s new CQ restaurant.

About twenty-five merchants in the historic downtown area are participating in the event. While participants have to be 18 years-old to enter the scavenger hunt, Haas pointed out that people can participate even if they cannot make it to Cup'n’Cork on the 25th.

"If somebody wants to participate and they can't come to Cup'n'Cork on Thursday evening the 25th, they can still go there on the 26th or 27th and pick up a packet, they can do it any of those days," Haas said.
