U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson dropped a bomb on southeast Missouri this week when she announced she will resign from the House and take the top job at a rural elective cooperative trade association. Emerson's last day will be February 8, 2013.
That leaves a lot of question: When will there be a special election? How will party committees chose candidates? Who will the committees choose?
Southeast Missouri State University political science professors Rick Althaus and Jeremy Walling and Southeast Missourian reporter Erin Ragan join KRCU's Jacob McCleland to talk about the fallout from Emerson's surprise announcement.
