Enjoy Spring in Cape Girardeau

Southeast Missouri State University

Always offering something special, Spring into Dance will feature an original contemporary dance work by quirky, athletic choreographer Taylor Mitchell. The concert will also showcase a variety of original works by faculty choreographers and select student choreographers. Spring Into Dance runs Wednesday, April 4 through Sunday April 8. Also happening in the arts this week, First Friday with the Arts showcases what’s new on Cape Girardeau’s art scene this Friday evening from 5-9 p.m.

Spring Break isn’t just for school-aged kids, you deserve a break too! Escape from the ordinary for a little while in Cape Girardeau with a Grown-Up’s Getaway. Start your Friday with a leisurely meal that sets the pace for the weekend.

Saturday morning, head downtown for a cup of coffee and savor it while you walk along the Mighty Mississippi at Riverfront Park and watch the barges head up and downriver. Swing by local boutiques while you’re in the historic downtown area; home decor shops, antique shops and specialty boutiques are bursting with really special items. Sample local wine at a winery tucked in the hills above the river, and take in a show at the River Campus with a full calendar of performing arts events.

Sleep in Sunday morning and have brunch, and visit Bollinger Mill State Historic Site and Covered Bridge on your way out of town - you can tour the four-story mill and walk across the covered bridge, one of only four left in the state. I hope your weekend in Cape Girardeau gives you a break - come back and see us anytime!
