This week on KRCU’s Going Public, we’re taking another look at infant mortality in Missouri’s Bootheel with Kelley Clark, Lead Case Manager at the Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium, Rob Turner, Project Management Coordinator and Interim Executive Director for Bootheel Babies and Families and Teletia Atkins, the Data Manager at Bootheel Babies and Families. We’ll talk about why the infant mortality rate is problematic in the Bootheel, the importance of safe sleep practices with newborns and why some unsafe sleep practices have become cultural norms. We’ll also talk about the intersections of infant mortality and ongoing initiatives to reduce the infant mortality rate.
