Leadership Cape Builds Leaders

Apr 29, 2018

With almost 700 graduates in more than 25 years, this premiere Chamber program continues to rock and roll.

Leadership Cape is a program for emerging, and current, area leaders. It began in 1985 as a one year trial, then started again in 1991 and has run every year since. Leadership Cape is an innovative community program designed to identify, equip, and motivate emerging and current leaders and to develop their potential for community leadership roles. This is accomplished by exposing them to the opportunities, realities, and challenges of our area. Any individual who desires to increase their own level of involvement and who wishes to broaden their knowledge is encouraged to participate.

The program begins with a team building retreat and then has seven monthly sessions focusing on discovering Cape, health, education, communication, public safety, policy making, and economic development. Participants are also required to complete a team project. While the projects are really designed to provide an experience in working with different personality types, several of the ideas generated have come to fruition. This year’s group projects will be presented at First Friday Coffee on May 4th - 7:00 a.m. at the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau.

One of the most popular pieces of Leadership Cape is the “True Colors” personality assessment. This information is invaluable in understanding the personality traits of those you live and work with, resulting in much better overall communication. This is good for relationships and great for business.
