Left of the Dial #2 - The Second One

KRCU

This week on the show we'll play Westkust, a band from Sweden who share members with Makthaverskan (which should be fun to say on the radio, some day). Both bands pay a wonderful tribute to the more aggressive side of shoegaze and '90s indie rock.  Check those bands out, plus other highlights from this week's show in the links below, and always listen to Left of the Dial, Friday nights from 9:00 to 11:00 and Saturdays from noon to 2:00 on KRCU!

The Dead Weather, featuring Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Dean Fertita of Queen of the Stone Age, Jack Lawrence of City and Colour, and possible giant-slayer Jack White return with their Zeppelineque riffs for their third album, Dodge & Burn

Wavves have a new album, V, set to be released on October 2nd.

It was announced this week that Buffy Sainte-Marie was awarded this year’s Polaris Prize for her album Power in the Blood. The Polaris Prize is awarded from a not-for-profit that recognizes a Canadian album from the year that is deemed to be outstanding. Buffy Sainte-Marie has been making music since 1963 and Power in the Blood is her 20th album. She was born on the Piapot First Nation, and her career has had a strong focus on protest and First Nation’s rights.

As always your feedback on Left of the Dial is welcome. You can find KRCU on Facebook and you can now email the show directly! Thanks for listening.
