Once again, NPR Music's Tiny Desk Contest has found something wonderful and goshdarn different. This is worth 24 minutes of your time.
This week on the show you'll hear new music from Chaz Bundick Meets The Mattson 2. You might know Bundick better by his other stage name, Toro Y Moi, and The Matson 2 are twin brothers who are also a sought-out jazz duo, who have collaborated with the likes of Badbadnotgood and members of Tortoise. Their new album is titled Star Stuff.
We'll also be playing new music from Lorde. She managed to pull off pop-star success and critical admiration as a teenager, and indeed in 2013 became the youngest person to have a #1 hit on the Billboard charts since 1987 with the song “Royals.” She has announced her first full-length album since Pure Heroine and it’s titled Melodrama, due out on June 16th.
Left of the Dial airs Friday night from 9-11 and Saturdays from noon-2 on KRCU.
