Left of the Dial #379 - Time To Play B-sides

I am all about that '90s nostalgia and this week on the show we get into it in a real big way from a couple of albums, one of which is a collection of demos and rarities from the Boston band Helium titled Ends With And. Lead singer Mary Timony oversaw the collection herself, scavenging basements to unearth some of these tracks.

It’s been 20 years since Radiohead put out OK Computer, a game-changing album that used technology in the studio to make a record with a morose and challenging message about the influence of technology in our lives. The anniversary is commemorated by way of a re-issue titled OKNOTOK 1997 2017, and it includes a number of fan-favorite songs that prior to this release only existed in their live sets, including the deceptively pessimistic “Lift.”

Not even a full table at The Mothership could get give a consistent or definitive pronunciation of the name Chad Vangaalen. Sorry!

Left of the Dial airs Friday nights from 9-11 and Saturdays from noon-2 on KRCU.
