Left Of The Dial #499 - The Warmest Time

This week there are some more non-traditional holiday songs to feature, including one from the Seattle indie rock trio Dude York with a song about that awkward moment when you run into your ex during the holidays.

The Minus 5 have a holiday album, Dear December, and it's the product of Scott McGaughey becoming inspired after writing some holiday songs for someone else's project. McGaughey said he aimed to “evoke the classic Christmas album feeling without leaning too heavily on sweet baby Jesus and good ol’ Little St. Nick.”

As 2017 comes to a close a lot of organizations have put out their best of lists for the year. This week I'll be highlighting some great music mined from those sources that I missed myself for whatever reason. I'll also be playing the latest from Alex Cameron, a wise-cracking Australian musician who put out an infectiously catchy and funny album this year titled Forced Witness, one that I didn't really listen to until after putting out my own favorites of 2017. I am enormously fond of it. There's just so much good music to listen to!

Left of the Dial airs Friday nights from 9-11 and Saturdays from noon-2 on KRCU.

Thanks always to Pete :)
