There are a lot of outlets pointing out that Kendrick Lamar receiving a Pulitzer for DAMN. is not only the first rap album to receive the distinction, but it's the first non-classical non-jazz album to do so. But to act like jazz albums are historically treated as peers to classical albums with regards to the Pulitzer doesn't accurately describe it, as NPR Music's Anastasia Tsioulcas notes on Twitter that she's only able to name three other occasions that the award was granted to a non-classical album.
