Let's Talk Business: Entrepreneurship Panel Takeaways

Cape Chamber

We recently hosted three local entrepreneurs for a panel conversation and I want to share a few key takeaways.

Skip Wrape, CEO of River City Biologicals helped us understand entrepreneurship. He said, “Being an entrepreneur, people don’t understand you completely. They look at you and think you want to make a lot of money, be your own boss and do this and that. To be honest, you’re scared to death. You’re running hard.”

Dana Thomas, Owner of BOLD! Marketing shared one of the most important facets of entrepreneurship. She said, “I’m a big believer in getting the right people on the bus and in the rights seats, and if they’re not, move them out. That’s not always favorable, but my one job is to make sure this business sustains.”

As I’ve said before, starting businesses and growing our own is critical to the future of our economy. Chris Carnell, Co-Founder of Codefi, said that “if want to continue to attract these individuals, these entrepreneurs to our community, our entire community must continue to support them.”

Fortunately, we have a community that is well positioned to make this happen. Skip Wrape summed it up best when he said this is a great town to raise a family and start a business, which is why he moved from Texas to Colorado and ultimately spent his career right here in Cape Girardeau.

In other local news, we will be cutting the ribbon on Rendleman Orchard’s new location on Kingshighway in Cape.
