Why are trails showing up in all of our towns and cities? A key step in the development and ensuring a vibrant future for a community is making a place welcoming, beautiful and usable for the community while also creating an attractive setting for new business investments. There is evidence that creating access to high quality multi-use recreation trails is one tool that has been shown to be a powerful economic engine.
Trail based economic development capitalizes on trails as a community amenity that extends beyond the fitness and leisure benefits. When you are looking for an easy walking path or a long bike trail, you’ll find what you are looking for in Cape Girardeau!
Cape LaCroix Recreational Trail meanders through the city of Cape Girardeau following the Cape LaCroix Creek. Along the way, the paved trail connects shopping areas, Shawnee Park, Arena Park, Cape Woods Conservation Area and Osage Park. There is a lot to do and see as you travel along the trail!
Parking lots can be found from south to north at Shawnee Park (State Route 74 and West End), Arena Park (410 Kiwanis Drive) and Osage Park (1625 N. Kingshighway).
