The Cape Girardeau Police Department is still investigating.

One man is in the hospital after a shooting on south Middle Street in Cape Girardeau on Monday, Oct. 27.

At 3:05 p.m. officers from the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots on the 500 block of S. Middle Street. Upon arrival, a male subject was found with multiple gunshot wounds and transported to a local hospital. He is currently in serious condition.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department is still investigating the scene, processing it for evidence and speaking to possible witnesses. No suspect is in custody at this time.

Public information officer corporal Darin Hickey said it is still a very dynamic investigation at this point.

“If anybody happened to see anything or hear anything in the area, or saw any vehicles, please call the Police Department. They can also call the anonymous tip line as well,” Hickey said.
