Man Who Helped Write “I Have A Dream” Speech To Speak At Southeast

Southeast Missouri State University

An advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who helped draft King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech will present the keynote address at Southeast Missouri State University’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Dinner January 22 in the Show Me Center.

Clarence B. Jones served as a political advisor, counsel and draft speechwriter for King.

Jones will speak in place of the Honorable Cory Booker, mayor of Newark, N.J., who previously was scheduled to present the keynote address at Southeast’s King Celebration Dinner. Booker is currently campaigning for a U.S. Senate seat in New Jersey vacated by the unexpected death of Frank Lautenberg and is unable to attend.
