MissionFest: Find Your Way To Give

MissionFest

Two years ago, Cheryl Mothes visited Haiti to help survivors of that Caribbean nation’s devastating earthquake.

Mothes, a financial planner at Edward Jones in Jackson, says the trip changed her life and was one of the most important things she had ever done.

She is now one of the organizers of MissionFest, a local event being held at the Osage Center on Saturday, October 27, 2012, that will allow participants to learn more about local and international mission opportunities that are available.

“I had this idea to host a missions festival and I shared that idea about 14 months ago with a couple of friends,” Mothes said. “Since then a group of twenty of us from different ministries and different churches have been planning the event.”

Attendees will meet over 40 exhibitors from various organizations and ministries that plan and carry out local, regional and international missions. The exhibit floor will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. They at least one of organizations will spark interest with an individual who would like to get involved in missions.

There will also be opportunities for “hands-on” mission work including a chance to pack dental kits for women in prisons via the organization “Festival of Sharing.” Participants can also support “The Shoe Man.” He exports donated shoes to third world countries. The funds he raises helps to build water wells in third world countries.

Following the exhibit, there will be a worship celebration from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
