Redhawk Football Players Earn OVC Recognition

Southeast Athletics

A pair of Redhawk Football student-athletes have earned recognition from the Ohio Valley Conference in consecutive games. Junior running back Marquis Terry was named adidas® OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week, and this week redshirt-freshman punter Jake Reynolds earned adidas® OVC Specialist of the Week honors.

Terry, a transfer from Highland Community College, carried the ball 31 times for 184 yards and two touchdowns in Southeast’s 29-10 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Family Weekend three weeks ago. Nationally, Terry is 13th in the Football Championship Subdivision in rushing yards per game and 16th in total rushing yards. His 595 rushing yards this season is second-most in the OVC.

A native of Wildwood, Missouri, Reynolds averaged 45.9 yards on seven punts in Southeast's dominating 31-3 Homecoming victory over Tennessee Tech. He boomed a 78-yard punt in the fourth quarter, marking the longest in the OVC this season and fourth-longest punt in school history. Reynolds dropped two of his punts inside the 20-yard line. He currently ranks 29th nationally with 41.5 yards per punt. Reynolds’ emergence comes after the Redhawks struggled on special team in the first few weeks of the season.

The Redhawks head to Austin Peay tomorrow for a key match-up with the Governors. Austin Peay and Southeast are currently third and fourth in the OVC standings, respectively. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. and fans can watch the game live for free on the OVC Digital Network.
