The United Soccer Coaches announced its annual Team Academic Awards last week. Southeast Missouri women's soccer claimed its eighth-straight annual award for the 2016-17 academic year.
The Redhawks put together a 3.64 team GPA for last academic year. SEMO's team GPA tied for 17th-best in the country. This United Soccer Coaches recognition follows the Redhawks earning the OVC Team Academic Award in August. Soccer posted 16 members to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll and had three OVC Medal of Honor recipients.
Soccer will be in action at home this weekend for Homecoming Week. The Redhawks host Eastern Illinois tonight at 6:30 p.m., and SIU Edwardsville in a Sunday matinee at 2 o’clock.
Homecoming Week activities will culminate tomorrow with the annual Homecoming Parade and football game, as the SEMO Football team looks to improve to 2-1 in conference play.
The Homecoming Parade will start down Broadway at 9:30 a.m. Two hours before kickoff, fans are reminded to line up at StreetFest on Bellevue, in front of the stadium, to cheer on the Redhawks Football team during the Redhawk Walk – led by the Southeast Marching Band and spirit squads
And Southeast Athletics and Transit Services want to remind fans about the complimentary game day shuttle service to assist fans who can’t find parking close to Houck Field. The shuttle will run routes before and after the game.
Southeast will also welcome home SEMO’s all-time leading rusher Kelvin Anderson to flip the coin during the coin toss, recognizing Anderson for his recent induction into the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame.
