Southeast Student to Host Fashion Event Downtown

Fashion Friday

Southeast Missouri State University graduating senior Jory Rapps will hold Cape Girardeau’s First ever ‘Fashion Friday’ today starting at 10 a.m.

The event will feature discounts, food, and drinks from local businesses downtown along with live entertainment. Guests can experience a variety of activities including fashion showcases, jewelry presentations, and live mannequins.

Rapps was inspired to create this event after volunteering for Fashion’s Night Out in New York a few years ago. Rapps believes everyone can have a great time at the event.

“It’s not just for people that are interested in fashion. Everybody’s involved. Even Hempies is doing a local artist showcase and gift certificate giveaway. It’s for anybody that just wants to have a good time,” Rapps said.

Rapps says the activities will last into the evening and are free to the public.

“The whole purpose is to stimulate the downtown economy, just to bring people down into the stores for something that’s fun, and to promote shopping locally,” Rapps said.
