Two-Minute Drill: Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

Southeast Missouri State University

Southeast Missouri State University was well represented at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame induction this year. Former Southeast Missouri football standout Eddie Moss, softball coach Lana Richmond, track star Miles Smith and football alum Bob Stolzer were among 10 individuals inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Eddie Moss was the Southeast Football team’s top rusher in 1970 and 1971, and combined to score 16 touchdowns in those two seasons. Moss went on to be a 13th-round draft pick and later had a six-year career in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Redskins.

Lana Richmond coached the Southeast Missouri State softball program for 32 years, compiling nearly 900 wins. Her teams won five Ohio Valley Conference regular-season titles, five OVC Tournament titles and made five NCAA Tournament appearances.

Miles Smith was a three-time All-American in the 400 meters and was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Male Track Athlete of the Year four times. He won a gold medal at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki, Finland as a member of the U.S. National Team 4x400 meter relay. He twice qualified for the USA Olympic Trials.

After a four-year playing career at Southeast, Bob Stolzer enjoyed a nearly 40-year career as a football coach, mostly with Ste. Genevieve High School. Stolzer amassed over 200 wins. His 1992 team won the Class 3 state championship, and his teams advanced to the quarterfinals or better 9 other times.
