Two-Minute Drill: Parks Represents Southeast and OVC on National SAAC

Southeast Missouri State University
Megan Parks

Senior track & field and cross country student-athlete Megan Parks is representing Southeast Missouri State University and the Ohio Valley Conference on the NCAA Division I National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Parks serves as the president of Southeast’s SAAC, which enhances the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image. A native of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Parks also attended the 2015 NCAA Leadership Forum in Orlando, Florida and represented Southeast as a member of OVC SAAC on multiple occasions.

The Division I National SAAC consists of one student-athlete from each of the 32 Division I conferences. Members are selected from a pool of three nominees from each of the represented conferences. Each student-athlete serves a two-year term with the option for re-election if eligible.

The function of National SAAC is to generate a student-athlete voice within the NCAA structure; solicit student-athlete response to proposed NCAA legislation; recommend potential NCAA legislation; review, react and comment to the governance structure on legislation, activities and subjects of interest; actively participate in the administrative process of athletics programs and the NCAA; and promote a positive student-athlete image.

Nate Saverino serves as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs.
