Two-Minute Drill: Twenty Student-Athletes Graduate in Fall 2016

Southeast Missouri State University

Twenty Redhawk student-athletes received their degrees from Southeast Missouri State University during Fall Commencement on Saturday, December 17, at the Show Me Center.

There were a total of 781 students -- 632 undergraduates and 149 graduate students -- who received their degrees at the fall commencement proceedings. Dr. Willie Redmond, SEMO professor of economics and faculty associate in the Office of the Provost, delivered the address.

As is customary each semester, the Department of Athletics held a special ceremony for student-athletes the evening before commencement in the Glenn Convocation Center at the River Campus. Athletic Director Brady Barke and Student Athlete Advisory Committee President Megan Parks both addressed the group before each coach presented their respective student-athletes with their sashes to be worn on commencement day. The red sashes emblazoned with the words “Student Athlete” were worn as part of the commencement regalia at the ceremony to identify the student-athletes.

The Redhawk basketball teams return home for a New Year’s Eve matinee doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at the Show Me Center. The women tip-off at Noon, followed by the men at approximately 2:30 p.m. The Redhawks host conference-opponent Eastern Kentucky, and it will be the first OVC contest for the Redhawk men.
