Southeast Missouri Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator Cindy Gannon has poured her heart and soul into the Walk for Women.

Last Saturday, all of her hard work came to fruition when the special event was officially named the "Cindy Gannon Walk for Women."

Since its inception in 2008, the Walk for Women has raised over $400,000 for athletic scholarships, including over $40,000 raised at this year’s event. This year marked the 10th year of the fundraising event, so it was only fitting a new name for the walk was warranted.

Coming off a season last year in which they won just one match and finished in last place in the Ohio Valley Conference, outsider expectations for the Redhawks Women’s Tennis team this season were not high. In the conference pre-season poll, the OVC head coaches predicted Southeast to finish eighth in the 10-team league.

Familiar faces peppered the opposing dugout when the Redhawk Baseball team visited nationally-ranked Mizzou on Tuesday.

Mizzou head coach Steve Bieser took over the helm of the Tigers program last summer, after four years as head coach at his alma mater Southeast Missouri State – during which he won three consecutive Ohio Valley Conference championships.

Joining Bieser in the Tigers dugout were assistant coach Lance Rhodes, a himself SEMO baseball alumnus and former Redhawks pitching coach, as well as two other former assistants in Dillon Lawson and Joe Migliaccio.
