Guard Tesia Thompson has been named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

In two games, Thompson averaged 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game over the week. She poured in 10 points and three rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench in her first career OVC contest against Belmont.

Former Southeast Missouri starting quarterback Jeromy McDowell was hired as the Redhawks offensive coordinator, head football coach Tom Matukewicz announced earlier this month.

McDowell returns to Southeast after working the last four years at NCAA Division II Colorado Mesa. He spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons as the Mavericks offensive coordinator.

The Southeast Athletic Department has unveiled a new premium seating area at Redhawk Basketball games, open exclusively at select games during the semester break.

At all three of the basketball doubleheaders during the semester break, the student section bleachers will be pushed back against the wall to create a premium courtside lounge and bar called the Fast Break Lounge.

They say there’s a first time for everything. This past Saturday, December 9, 2017, the Redhawks men’s basketball team recorded a program first – for the first time since moving to Division I in 1991, the Redhawks men beat the SIU Salukis in Carbondale.

Denzel Mahoney scored a game-high 18 points and knocked down three 3-pointers to lead the Redhawks to a 75-69 road win over rival Southern Illinois at SIU Arena.

Here at Southeast Missouri State, the Department of Athletics awards scholarships in some amount to 284 student-athletes this year. Many of whom would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend Southeast without an athletic scholarship.
