The Second Annual Perry County Senior Resource EXPO in Perryville, Missouri, is a free community-focused event designed to connect local seniors and caregivers with vital services. Theme: "Slice of the Good Life" Location: Perryville Elks Lodge

Activities: Vendor booths, bingo, and complimentary watermelon slices

Goal: A relaxed setting where seniors can learn about healthcare, assisted living, and community support in a social environment to prevent isolation.

There’s no substitute for blood. When a patient receives blood, it was given in advance by a generous donor. You can help maintain the blood supply for accident & burn victims, heart surgery & organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer.

Schedule an appointment to donate on Tuesday, August 4, 1:30-5:30 p.m. in gym at Cape Bible Chapel.

Love talking about books without being assigned one? Books on Tap is our relaxed, read-what-you-want book club where everyone brings their own current read to the conversation. This month's discussion theme is "Unearthing History," with an August reading theme of "Adventures Across America." Share what you've discovered, hear recommendations from other readers, and enjoy an evening of great conversation in a casual setting. (ages 18+)

Join fellow American Mahjong enthusiasts for a fun and friendly game session! This event is for players who already know the rules and want to enjoy some lively rounds together. If you have your own mahjong set, please bring it along—our library has only two sets available. Feel free to bring your favorite snack or drink to enjoy while you play. The Jackson Municipal Band’s next concert will be August 6 with special guest Doug Rees.

The free concert will take place Thursday, August 6, at 7:00 p.m. at the Nick Leist Memorial Band Shell in Jackson city park. Be sure to bring your blankets or lawn chairs.

Directions: Entrance to the band shell parking lot is off of Route D across from McCombs Funeral Home.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host its Nature Center at Night - Wild Edibles Ice Cream Social on August 7.

Cool off with a scoop of summer fun while learning how nature can add delicious flavors and colorful toppings to your favorite frozen treat. The event will feature a naturalist-led presentation on safe and common wild edibles, followed by samples at the MDC ice cream parlor.

The Nature Center at Night - Ice Cream Social will take place on Friday, August 7, at the Cape Girardeau Nature Center with presentations at 5 and 6 p.m. The nature center building and exhibits will be open until 7:30 p.m.

Join us for the 2026 Tunes at Twilight fall concert series! Grab your picnic baskets and lawn chairs, and head to the Ivers Square Gazebo located on the new City Hall grounds on Friday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. for a live, musical performance!

Kasey Lee Rogers is a singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist currently based in Marion, IL.

When not on the road promoting his country material, Kasey also plays guitar in Buzzzard, a somewhat bluesy stoner rock group.

The Cape Riverfront Market takes place each Saturday morning through October from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 35 S. Spanish Street in Downtown Cape Girardeau.

Patrons of the farmers’ market can find a wide variety of vendors selling hot breakfast and lunch foods, farm-fresh produce, meats and cheeses, baked goods, jams, honey, flowers and plants, arts and crafts, and natural wellness products, all of which are locally grown, homemade, and handmade. Each week will feature live music, as well.

Visit Ste. Gen will host the 58th annual Jour de Fete festival on August 8-9.

The free, family-friendly event will feature over 200 artisan and crafts booths, plus hands-on exhibits, a variety of food vendors, live entertainment, car show, living history demonstrations, street performers, and more set in the unique and historic surroundings of Ste. Genevieve.

Jour de Fete will take place from 10 to 6 on Saturday, August 8, and 9 to 4 on Sunday, August 9, in Historic Downtown Ste. Genevieve.
