2018 General Election: Nominating Petitions Now Available For Spots On Cape Girardeau City Council

Oct 5, 2017

Four spots including mayor will open up on the Cape Girardeau City Council during the next general election in April 2018.

Ward 1 and Ward 6 councilmen Joseph Uzoaru and Danny Essner will not seek re-election next year.

Meanwhile, Ward 2 councilwoman Shelly Moore has announced she will run again. Current Ward 5 councilman Bob Fox has voiced his interest in running for mayor, since Mayor Harry Rediger is term-limited.

Nominating petitions for open positions are currently available in the City Manager’s office of City Hall.

To serve on the Cape Girardeau City Council, a candidate must be 21-years-old, at least a two-year resident, a registered voter, and a Ward resident for at least 90 days. For more qualifications and information on city council re-elections, visit cityofcape.org/elections.
