All About Cape: January 10-16, 2017

Cape Convention & Visitors Bureau

Drop by the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center and visit with the volunteers and staff as they feed hungry reptiles, amphibians and fish on Thursday, January 12.

January 13th, 14th and 15th, Jurassic Quest brings you a Dinosaur Adventure for the whole family at the Show Me Center. Realistic, life-size animatronic dinosaurs are the main exhibit, and you’ll find over 50 life-size dinos in all.  Interact with these huge creatures, and even ride a few!  Young paleontologists can uncover long hidden dinosaur bones on a fossil dig, and the dino bounce area has dinosaur themed inflatable mazes.

Winter is here, and while the water parks and walk through zoos may be shut down for the season, there is still plenty of indoor fun to be had in Cape Girardeau for little ones!  Discovery Playhouse is a great spot to spend a chilly afternoon, all cozied up inside this children's museum.  Your kiddos can splash in the water garden, climb on the fire engine, milk the "cow", play doctor in the nursery, drive through the bank  and try their hand at a Ninja Warrior style obstacle course.  The infant play area is a sunny, shoes-off spot that your littlest ones can explore on all fours, or on two legs - the surface is soft, perfect for new walkers.

The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center has a whole day's worth of hands-on indoor fun!  Aquariums filled with fish and reptiles native to the area invite you to peer inside and see what life is like on the bottom of a lake or stream.  There's a puppet theatre, an indoor beaver dam and a spot to make crayon rubbings of animal tracks, plus so much more...and entry is free!
