Attendance at last weekend’s air festival at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport slightly exceeded expectations.
Airport manager Bruce Loy estimated about 7,000 people showed up on Friday and Saturday.
“The turnout was fantastic,” Loy said. “Friday night was especially good. Saturday was a little bit more difficult to tell, but based on ticket sales, though, it was relatively even.”
Loy’s goal was to have 5,000 paying customers, and he thinks the air festival just barely surpassed that. Children under six years old were admitted for free.
