This summer, head women's basketball coach Rekha Patterson is trading in the hardwood for the dance floor. Coach Patterson has been selected to compete in the first ever "Dancing with Cape Stars" this July. The event will be held July 22, 2017, at Ray's Plaza Banquet Center in Cape. It is open to the public but tickets are required and the price of admission also includes dinner. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Gibson Center Foundation.

A pair of former Southeast Missouri State pitchers have been successfully climbing the ranks in minor league baseball, on their journeys to the big leagues.

Alex Winkelman and Joey Lucchesi, both left-handed pitchers, have experienced tremendous success in their brief professional baseball careers.

Former Southeast Missouri running back Kelvin "Earthquake" Anderson is part of the 2017 Canadian Football League Hall of Fame Class.

In seven years with the Calgary Stampeders (1996-2002), Anderson accumulated seven 1,000-yard rushing seasons. Anderson's 8,292 career rushing yards is the second-highest total in Calgary history, including 52 rushing touchdowns. He was a two-time Grey Cup champion with Calgary, winning titles in 1998 and 2001, and was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie in 1996.

A total of six Redhawks have been named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference baseball teams, the league announced on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.

Outfielder Dan Holst headlined the award-winners for Southeast, picking up First Team All-OVC honors. Four others, including catcher Brian Lees, outfielder Chris Osborne, and starting pitchers Justin Murphy and Clay Chandler earned Second Team accolades. Freshman second baseman Danny Wright earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
